Dude... how come you don't write or publish your writing and reviews? I've noticed that you still have the "webpage" profile going on. Organized and informative (although a lil dark).
Ever wonder if you could make money doing this? I think you could.

I downloaded this CD almost two weeks ago and I still haven't listened to it. Maybe one day. LOL.

G., ever think about being a freelance writer for Billboard or Rolling Stone? You have what it takes!!! I'd look into it if I were you. Get paid to do album reviews! LOL.

I understand and I mentioned that in the review ... the songs aren't spectacular and on first listen they almost ALL sound alike which I'm sure would make the album monotonous for some listeners ... In my case, these tracks tend to reflect my own personal vibe so I connected with it more readily - with the exception of the first single Obsessed. I detest drama of any kind, and I found that track completely unnecessary.

I'm still waiting for it to impress me, it may take a while. So far a lot of the songs sound too similar, which makes it boring to me. It may work well as background music, but that's not a quality I necessarily look for in an R&B album, and definitely not from Mariah. But as often happens, several listening sessions may make me warm up to it; videos and remixes may help too.

Hmmm...I didn't even hear about this...I guess I'm too locked into my own world. But I cannot fathom that people would dare question the validity of one's citizenship. I hardly think this was an issue for ANY past president. Pitiful. Absolutely pitiful.

And the elephant swings its snout...and generally, "Republicans" do indeed have longer noses...hmmm...

I agree with pricolation. It is SO hard to get to Number 1, and usually the songs that do have no substance anyway. The song has to be in CONTINUOUS rotation on the airwaves and SO many people have to like it for it to even get close to #1. I can't say that Janet's music has been TERRIBLE, but it's kinda dated sometimes...and then people look at the fact that this old-assed lady is still singing about her cooch? Wow...

LOL.

You had me LAUGHING at that 808 reference. LOL. I did say exactly that...stop repeating it. LOL. But, for the record, it's not Left Eye that does the rap...it's group member Natina that does it.

Ok, so this is from wikipedia:

Four singles were released from the album; the first, "Feedback", was released as a digital download in December 2007. The song reached number nineteen on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, becoming Jackson's best-charting single since 2001's "Someone to Call My Lover". [Discipline] debuted at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200, becoming her sixth to top the chart.

I stand corrected. I miss Terry Lewis and Jimmy Jam, though.

Oh, and these are her stats since "All For You":

# 'All For You' (2001) #1 Pop, #1 R&B
# 'Someone To Call My Lover' (2001) #3 Pop, #11 R&B
# 'Son of a Gun' (2001) #28 Pop, #26 R&B
# 'Feel It Boy' (w/Beenie Man) (2002) #28 Pop, #14 Rap
# 'Just a Little While' (2004) #45 Pop
# 'I Want You' (2004) #57 Pop, #18 R&B
# 'All Nite (Don't Stop)' (2004) #90 R&B

So she has broken into the top 100 since then, just not #1. Nothing from "Discipline" on the list, though.

You're right, and when you're right, you're right. But reaching #1 on the Hot 100 is no easy feat. A lot of artists, both old and new have barely, if ever, been in that position. Not to defend her, because I do agree that her music has deteriorated consistently since Velvet Rope. And I definitely do agree that she needs to keep her vajayjay out of the recording studio and stop singing about moistness and blow jobs and cootersplosions. But yeah, reaching #1 is tough, and staying there is even tougher.

I'm sure we're gonna be seeing a mad scramble to reach that position by Whitney, Mariah and Madonna, who all have new albums coming out in the next few months, and who are all pretty much veterans in the music industry, just like Janet.
